Hello Friends,
Welcome September. The Friends have quite a busy schedule this month including guided hikes and event appearances throughout the community. But before I get into all that I’d like to remind you about our 2026 Juried Photography and Art Exhibition.
Our highly anticipated exhibition is a unique opportunity to show off your work and the features that make the Black Run Preserve so precious to all of us. Plus, it helps us raise both funds and awareness with entry fees, art and photo sales, and a gallery environment where visitors can admire the exceptional talent of our community members.
It’s been brought to our attention that not all who would like to participate can easily afford the entry fee or don’t have a large body of work to choose from. We hear you and we’ve created a two-tier program to accommodate all who may be interested. All the details and entry form can be found on our website. But don’t delay. The September 19 entry deadline is rapidly approaching.
Now on to our other events:
Saturday, September 12: Tree Identification Hike, 10am-12pm
Join our Black Run Ambassadors at the Bortons Road/REI Trailhead as we explore the Black Run Preserve and learn to identify the buds, leaves and flowers of more than 15 different tree species.

Saturday, September 19: The FBRP will have an informational table set up at REI (501 NJ-73 South, Marlton) from 10am-3pm to help them celebrate National Public Lands Day.
Saturday, September 26: The FBRP will be participating in Evesham’s Harvest Festival (Main Street between Maple Avenue and Plymouth Avenue). Stop by our table to spin the prize wheel and find out more about the BRP.
Sunday, September 27: Early Fall Hike, 10am-12pm
Join our Ambassadors for a free guided early fall hike at the Black Run Preserve. We’ll look for signs of early autumn color and discuss how our native flora and fauna adapt to shorter days and cooler temperatures. The hike will be less than three miles at a slow pace. We’ll stop at several locations along the way for water breaks, photography opportunities and educational insights about the preserve.
